The first beauty subscription box that has arrived for me this May is the Look Fantastic #LFHelloBeautiful edit (UK, May 2016) and first of all I will reveal the products within the box, and follow this with my review and verdict.
Look Fantastic costs £15 per month for the month-to-month subscription, and can be attained for as little as £11.25 per month for an annual subscription Unlike most other beauty box offerings, this can be paid monthly too-so that you can benefit from the generous reduction in cost of the annual option without having to pay for the full year in one go. All prices include shipping. So, what’s in the box?
Ren Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial
This is a small sample-sized tube of Ren’s Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial. I have actually received this exact same product before in a different beauty box, and so have already tried it out. The cream is designed to be applied to clean skin just before bed, and left on overnight to boost the skin’s moisture and radiance.
This product may not be suitable for sensitive skin, as it does mention that a slight tingling sensation may occur upon application, and I did notice that this happened to me despite my very normal, non-sensitive skin. I must admit that I didn’t notice much difference in the morning!
The full-sized version of this product is 40ml and costs £32, giving this 10ml sample a value of £8.
Ioma Optimum Moisture Cream
This product consists of seven individual 1ml pods/ampules of Ioma’s Optimum Moisture Cream, which helps to boost the skin’s collagen levels and assist with cell regeneration. This is one of two varieties available in the May Look Fantastic box, and some subscribers received the Youthful Moisture Cream (which is presented in the same pod format) instead.
The full-sized version of this product is a 30ml pump dispenser that costs £49, making this 7ml sample size worth around £11.40.
Uniq One All In One Hair Treatment
This small spray bottle contains 9ml of Revlon’s Uniq One All In One Hair Treatment Oil, and once more, two different varieties are available-I received the coconut option, which smells exactly like holiday sunscreen! The oil is designed to serve as an intensive treatment to repair dry or damaged hair, improve shine, and protect colour. It also contains both UVA and UVB sun filters.
The full-sized version of the product is 150ml, with an RRP of around £8, giving this sample a value of under £1.
Vichy’s Liftactiv is a firming, toning moisturiser that is designed to target wrinkles and fine lines, even skin tone, and brighten the complexion. The full-sized product costs £29.95 for 50ml, and this sample is 15ml, with a value of around £9.
Decleor Intense Nutrition Cream
This month, each Look Fantastic subscriber received one of three different samples from premium skincare brand Decleor: I got the Intense Nutrition Cream, and the other two options were the Hydra Floral Gel Cream, and the Aromessence Neroli Serum.
The Intense Nutrition Cream is a nourishing, protecting day cream, with an RRP of £45.50 for the full-sized 50ml pot. This sample is a tiny 5ml tube, with an RRP of around £4.55.
This is a full-sized hair brush that is designed to smooth tangled or wet hair without snagging or pulling. A range of different colours are available, and the brush’s RRP. is £11.99.
Eve Lom Cleanser and Cleansing Cloth
This product was not mentioned in the Look Fantastic booklet, and this is the second time in a row that I have received an additional product that was not mentioned in the listing! It consists of a 5ml single-use sachet of Eve Lom’s cleanser, along with a fine muslin facial cloth as well.
The full-sized version of the product can be bought in various different size options with varying different numbers of cloths, starting at £55 for a 100ml pot.
Elle Magazine June 2016 edition
Finally, the May 2016 Look Fantastic box also contains a copy of June’s Elle Magazine (UK), with a cover price of £4.10.
While a lot of the products in the May 2016 Look Fantastic box were small sample-sized items, they were also mainly high value samples from brands that would otherwise be rather costly to take a gamble on for the full-sized versions.
The Look Fantastic box is more hair and skincare oriented than concerned with makeup, and this box is no exception, containing a good range of products for both the face and hair that I will likely try out over the course of the next couple of weeks.
I particularly like the presentation of the Ioma Optimum Moisture capsules, and these will be very handy for travel, as well as providing enough of the product to give it a good go. The wet brush is also pretty handy, as I generally use a large comb when my hair is wet to avoid tugging on it, and so I am keen to try this one!
Overall, the Look Fantastic May 2016 beauty box provides a well collated range of small but high-value samples that I will enjoy trying out, and which will be particularly handy for travel.
