I’ll start off with a reveal of the box’s contents, followed by my verdict.
Look Incredible’s standard beauty box costs £18.99 per month plus £2.50 delivery, and they usually ship their boxes in the first part of the month. You can sign up for the next box here.
So, what was in the Look Incredible box for June 2016?
Ciate Manicure Set
First up, the box contained this “Very Colourful Manicure” set, which comes complete with foils to create the oil slick effect pictured above. RRP. £16.
The Body Shop Moroccan Rhassoul Body Clay
This large 200ml tube contains Rhassoul clay to use as a body mask, and purports to absorb oil and excess water, producing a firming effect. RRP. £16.
No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara
This is a full-sized black mascara from No7 with a specially designed three-in-one brush to provide volume and definition without clumps. RRP. £11.50.
Velvet 59 Matte to the Max Liquid Lipstick-Pink Cadillac
This vegan liquid lipstick is designed to mattify without drying the lips, and is pictured above in the shade “Cadillac.” RRP. £17.
Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer
This little gold pot is a watery liquid with soft-focus gold pigments to provide a shimmer and glow, and minimise fine lines. RRP. £16.
I must admit that I wasn’t as pleased with the contents of the June box as I have been with previous edits, and this month, some of the brands included made me raise my eyebrows a little. The Body Shop and No7 are of course popular brands, but they are not really what I hope to see in more expensive subscriptions like Look Incredible, particularly given that past edits have contained brands such as Mac and other high-end makeup.
Last month’s box included products from Claire’s Accessories, and the drop in value and desirability of some of the box’s products seems to have been phased in shortly after the launch of the Look Incredible Deluxe Box this March, which costs £35 per month.
I wonder if as a result of launching a more high-end box, the value and desirability of the brands in the regular box will not be as impressive as they have been previously.
The Ciate manicure set was the highlight of this box for me, as I have been thinking about trying out foils for a while but never got round to it-the rest of the box didn’t really wow me, and particularly, the pale pink shade of the Velvet 59 liquid lipstick made me raise my eyebrows a little!
The total value of this month’s box is £76.50 which is undoubtedly exceptional value given the box price of £18.99 (plus shipping), but I’d rather see a smaller collation of high-end brands than items from labels such as No7 and The Body Shop, which I can pick up on any generic high street.
Also, I have pretty much reached critical mass on black mascara from Look Incredible-each month, both boxes have each contained a black mascara virtually every time!
I appreciate that my review this month may sound pretty negative, but overall, the value of Look Incredible is excellent and well worth subscribing to; but I would like to see a return to the high-end items and brands of previous months in the future, and I hope that this has not been sacrificed to the Deluxe Box altogether.
